If you are coming to First Lutheran Church for the first time, you might be wondering...
When is worship? We meet at 10:30 in the sanctuary each Sunday.
How do I participate in Sunday worship? Upon entering the narthex, an usher will offer you a bulletin and a sealed communion if you prefer. Communion will be offered at the front of the nave or you may choose to commune with prepackaged elements. We request that you choose a seat at least 3 ft from someone else. Masks are available and optional for you to wear as you feel it is needed. The bulletin has the liturgy and the hymns are found in the cranberry book in the pews. We do a lot of standing and sitting, only join in as you are comfortable; you'll notice not everyone participates in our "liturgical aerobics".
Lastly, if you choose to not worship with us in person, you are welcome to follow along with our service on Facebook Live each Sunday. www.facebook.com/flclex
What do I wear? When you visit First Lutheran on a Sunday morning, there’s no need to worry about what you should wear. Wear whatever makes you comfortable. You’ll see people in the pews dressed in all styles—from shorts to jeans to khakis to business suits.
What happens during the service? Each service will normally include Bible readings, some prayers and a sermon. During the service the pastor will invite you to greet the people sitting around you and share God's peace, but no one will single you out as a visitor. We don’t expect visitors to support the congregation financially, so feel free to pass by the offering plate. Many members of the congregation contribute directly through their bank accounts so you won’t be the only one passing by.
What about my children? If you have children, they are welcome to sit with you in worship. A nursery is also available for you as needed. We encourage families to stay in worship as much as possible and don't mind the chatter of children. A children's sermon led by the Pastor is included in worship each Sunday.
Is communion served? Holy communion is served every Sunday morning, and all are welcome to join in this meal. You can read more about communion here.
Where is First Lutheran? First Lutheran Church is located at 320 S State St, Lexington, NC, just a block off Main Street on 4th Avenue. Parking is located in the rear of the building or in the YMCA parking lot next door.
