Holy Communion
Holy Communion is God present in, with, and under the elements of bread and wine. Holy Communion is the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ given with the elements of bread and wine, instituted by Christ himself for us to eat and drink. Through Holy Communion we receive Christ’s body and blood and God’s gifts of forgiveness of sin, life, and salvation.
Who Can Receive Communion at First Lutheran?
Everyone is welcome to join us for this meal. Believing Jesus’ words, “given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins” we receive God’s good gifts given in the bread and wine.
When is Communion Served at First Lutheran?
Communion is served each Sunday morning.
How is Communion Served at First Lutheran?
Currently, in an effort to show love and concern for our neighbors, communion is prepackaged as we strive to reduce the transmission of germs. The elements are available in the narthex as you enter the church. Please pick up your sealed communion when you receive your bulletin. Wine and wafer, gluten free, and juice options are all available. During worship, we will partake of communion in the pews. Please use the blue basket on the end of your pew to dispose of your communion cup. If you need assistance, please let an usher know.
