If you are coming to First Lutheran Church for the first time, you might be wondering...
When is worship? Worship is at 10:30am every Sunday, directly following Sunday School at 9:30am.
What do I wear? When you visit First Lutheran on a Sunday morning, there’s no need to worry about what you should wear. Wear whatever makes you comfortable. You’ll see people in the pews dressed in all styles—from shorts to jeans to khakis to business suits.
What happens when I arrive? When you come into the church building on a Sunday, you will be greeted just outside or inside the outer door and handed a printed order of service and weekly announcement sheet. Large print copies of this as well as hearing devices are available from ushers.
What happens during the service? Each service will normally include singing, Bible readings, some prayers and a sermon. During the service the pastor will invite you to greet the people sitting around you and share God's peace, but no one will single you out as a visitor. We don’t expect visitors to support the congregation financially, so feel free to pass the offering plate on when it comes down your row. Many members of the congregation contribute directly through their bank accounts so you won’t be the only one passing it on.
What about my children? If you have children, they are welcome to sit with you in worship. A children's message is included in each worship service. A nursery is available for children ages 3 and under.
Is communion served? Holy communion is served every Sunday morning at the altar, and all are welcome to join in this meal. You can read more about communion here.
